Crazy Crafters Blog Hop with Mikaela Titheridge

I'm back again for another Crazy Crafters Blog Hop and today we're CASE-ing (Copy and Selectively Edit) Mikaela Titheridge.

There's going to be plenty of inspiration, so make sure you take a look at the rest of the hop, including Mikaela's creation as she has joined in with us.

Today I've chosen to CASE these cards that Mikaela made using the Special Reason stamp set.

I love the combination of So Saffron and Calypso Coral so as soon as I saw these colours I knew I was going to use them on my card.  I also love the flower image so decided to use the Definitely Dahlia stamp set as my focal point.

I wanted to try a few different techniques so have made 2 cards.

For my first card I placed a strip of masking tape across the cardstock, to leave a blank space for the sentiment, and then stamped the Definitely Dahlia stamp onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock using Versamark.  I then heat embossed the image using White Stampin' Emboss Powder.

To create the colour gradient I used a sponge to apply Calypso Coral ink to the centre of the image and So Saffron ink to the rest of the image, blending the colours together until I was happy.

I then stamped a sentiment from the One Big Meaning stamp set using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

For my second card wanted to try using watercolour so followed the same process as above, expect I replaced the Whisper White cardstock with Watercolour Paper.

To apply the colour, I spritzed some water over the paper and then placed drops of Calypso Coral and So Saffron ink onto various areas and let the water move the ink around.

The sentiment used on this card is also from the One Big Meaning stamp set.  For this card, I did stamp the sentiment onto a separate piece of Whisper White cardstock and attach it to the card front as I wasn't very successful with removing the masking tape from the watercolour paper.

To finish of both cards, I layered the card front onto a piece of Calypso Coral cardstock and then attached it to a card base made from Whisper White cardstock

I hope you've enjoyed stopping by.  I'd love to hear from you so please feel free to leave a comment below.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the blog hop!

All You Need Is Love

This week Kylie Bertucci is hosting another International Blog Highlight, and the theme is 'Love'.

I was having trouble coming up with an idea for this weeks highlight until I found inspiration from the latest challenges for Stamp, Ink, Paper and the Global Design Project.

When I saw the Stamp, Ink, Paper colour challenge I instantly knew which stamp I was going to use, and then after seeing the sketch challenge over at the Global Design Project, I came up with this card.

Using the Definitely Dahlia stamp by Stampin' Up! I applied Soft Sky to the centre of the flower, followed by Bermuda Bay and Night of Navy (as I didn't have the corresponding Stampin' Write Markers, I used a wet paint brush to pick up the ink and apply it to the stamp).

After stamping the image on some Whisper White cardstock, I heat embossed a greeting and some hearts from the Watercolour Wishes Card Kit onto a strip of vellum using White embossing powder and then wrapped it around the cardstock.

I then layered it onto a piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock and then onto a Soft Sky card base.

And that's how simple it was to make.

Hope you enjoyed this weeks card.  Don't forget to visit Kylie's page (after 6:30pm (AEST), Friday 8 April 2016) and vote on your favourite creations!

I have also entered this card in the following challenges:
